INDIAN WEDDINGS

A cocktail party highlight for the night the friends took over

Many Indian weddings, especially larger ones and destination weddings, now include a cocktail party: an evening event before the wedding, usually in Western or Indo-Western outfits, with drinks, a DJ, and performances by the couple and their friends. It is less about ritual and more about the couple's own circle, and it often has the most choreographed dancing of the whole wedding. Upload the cocktail footage as its own WeddingEditor project, list the performances and people, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.

How to get a cocktail party highlight

  1. 1

    Upload the night

Add the arrival and decor, the couple's entrance, every performance, the speeches if any, and the party. Low light and DJ lighting are typical, so include your best-exposed angles; the AI editing can only use what is in the project.

  2. 2

    List the performances

Cocktail nights often have a running order of dances by friends, siblings and the couple. Write it down in order with who performed, and say which performances are must-include and which can be dropped.

  3. 3

    Collect and review the edit

Buy One Wedding or use a credit and start processing; typical turnaround is 24 to 72 hours. The finished edit appears in your project for viewing and download as an MP4, and up to two rounds of revisions by email are included.

Cocktail party moments to list

Arrival and decor

Guests in evening wear, the bar, the lights, the venue at its best.

The couple's entrance

The couple walking in, often to a song chosen for the night.

The couple's dance

A rehearsed dance by the couple, often the highlight of the evening.

Friends' performances

Groups of college or work friends with their own routine.

Toasts

Short speeches from the best friends, if there were any.

The party

The dance floor full, the couple in the middle.

What happens at a cocktail party, in order

The cocktail party is a newer addition to many Indian weddings and has no fixed ritual. Some families skip alcohol and call it a party night or a reception-style evening.

1. Arrival

Guests arrive in evening wear; many couples choose a cocktail dress or gown and a suit or tuxedo rather than traditional clothes.

2. Entrance and performances

The couple makes an entrance, then friends and family perform rehearsed dances. The order is often printed or announced by an emcee.

3. Toasts

Some cocktail nights include short speeches from friends; this varies widely.

4. Open dancing

The DJ takes over and the night turns into a party. Lighting is usually low and colorful.

Low-light footage is welcome

You can upload every camera and drone file you shot, with no sorting needed first. The AI editing works with the footage as it is; WeddingEditor does not color-correct it into a look.

One night, one edit

A cocktail party uploaded on its own produces one edit and uses one purchase or plan credit.

What is a cocktail party at an Indian wedding?

A cocktail party is a pre-wedding evening celebration at many modern Indian weddings, focused on the couple's friends, with drinks, a DJ and performances rather than ritual.

The sangeet is the traditional night of family songs and performances. Some couples combine the two into one evening, others hold both.

Cocktail party highlight questions

Can the couple's rehearsed dance play almost uncut?

In a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes, often yes. Ask for it in the must-include question and say you want it mostly intact.

The venue was very dark. Will the edit fix the lighting?

WeddingEditor works toward one consistent finished look across cameras and lighting, so still choose your best-exposed angles and mention which camera handled the low light better.

Can the cocktail night and the sangeet be one film?

Yes, if both are in one project. Say how to split the time. Separate projects give separate films.

Will the DJ's tracks be in the film?

The sound your cameras recorded, DJ included, is used together with music, balanced by your audio preference. A specific track is not promised, so pick the balance that suits the night.

Can I add my own titles afterwards?

Yes. Download the 1080p MP4 and finish it in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.

Do I have to stay on the page while the files upload?

Keep the upload tab open while files transfer. If the connection drops, select the same original files again to continue.

Will WeddingEditor decide whether drinking or dancing scenes from the cocktail night appear?

It will not set family protocol for you. Some families want the cocktail party kept light in the film; say in the avoid question, or leave those clips out of the upload, because WeddingEditor edits only what it receives.
