INDIAN WEDDINGS

An Indian reception highlight with the entrance, the toasts and the dance floor

The reception is the celebration after the wedding ceremony, and in many Indian families it is hosted by the groom's side, sometimes a day or more later and sometimes in another city. It is often the most Western-style event of the wedding: the couple's grand entrance, a stage where guests line up to greet them and pose for photos, dinner, in some families speeches and a cake, and a dance floor that fills late. Upload the reception footage as its own WeddingEditor project, say which guests and speeches matter, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.

How to get an Indian reception highlight

  1. 1

Put the reception footage in its own project

Create a project for the reception and upload the entrance, the stage, the speeches, the first dance and the party. Large receptions often run several hours with hundreds of guests, so you may have a lot of files; a project has no limit on how many or how large in total.

  2. 2

Brief the stage and the speeches

Stage greetings are long and repetitive on camera. Say which guests matter, usually grandparents, close friends and the couple's colleagues if they asked, and list each speech in order with who gave it. Use the audio question to say whether speeches or the dance floor should lead.

  3. 3

Get it back and polish if you like

Spend a credit or buy One Wedding and start processing; it usually takes 24 to 72 hours. When the finished edit arrives, watch it in the app, download the 1080p MP4, and add titles or color in your own editor if you want. Up to two email revision rounds are included.

Reception moments to list

The entrance

The couple walking or dancing in, often to a song the DJ played, with confetti, sparklers or cold sparks.

The stage

Grandparents and close family blessing the couple on stage; name the few you want, not the queue.

Speeches

A sibling's toast, a best friend's story, the father's thank you, in the order they were given.

First dance

The couple's first dance, and any choreographed performance by friends.

The cake

Cutting the cake, if the couple had one.

Late dancing

The dance floor at its fullest, and the couple pulled into a circle of friends.

What happens at an Indian reception, in order

Reception formats vary a lot. Some are formal sit-down dinners, others are mostly a party, and some combine a ritual welcome of the bride at the groom's home.

1. Guests and the entrance

Guests arrive and are seated or mingle, then the couple makes an entrance, often in new outfits: a gown or a reception lehenga for the bride, a suit or sherwani for the groom.

2. The stage

In many Indian receptions the couple sits or stands on a decorated stage and guests come up family by family to congratulate them, give gifts and take photos. It can last a long time.

3. Speeches and dinner

Some families have toasts from siblings, friends or parents; others skip speeches entirely. Dinner is often a buffet.

4. The dance floor

A DJ or band plays, families dance together, and the party can run late. Stage lights and DJ lighting change color constantly, which is worth mentioning for a highlight.

Speech kept in the edit

Speeches and the DJ are heard as your cameras recorded them in the video files, with music in support, as your audio preference sets.

AI-edited from your footage

WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the reception edit following your notes about people and moments, and it is delivered to your project.

What is an Indian wedding reception?

An Indian wedding reception is the celebration held after the ceremony, often hosted by the groom's family, where the newly married couple is introduced to guests with dinner, greetings, sometimes speeches, and dancing.

The sangeet is a pre-wedding night of family performances and the cocktail party is a pre-wedding evening for friends. The reception comes after the couple is married.

Indian reception highlight questions

Can the AI editing skip most of the stage greetings?

Yes. Say in the avoid or priorities question that the stage line should be cut down to the named guests you list, and the rest stays out.

Can one speech play in full inside the highlight?

A Highlight Reel runs about 5 minutes, so one short speech can fit. Name it and ask for it in full; longer speeches may be shortened, which you can flag as off limits.

The reception was in a different city from the wedding. One project or two?

Either works. If the couple wants a film of the reception alone, make it its own project. Each project produces one edit.

Will the DJ's songs be in the film?

What your cameras recorded, the DJ included, can be part of the sound, used together with music. Choose more speeches and voices in the audio preference if the toasts matter most, or a music-led balance for the dance floor.

How do I ask for changes to the Indian reception film?

Use the email link in the app. Up to two revision rounds are included, and the same edit is revised.

What resolution is the reception edit?

1080p H.264 MP4 in widescreen, even if some of your footage was shot in 4K.

Does WeddingEditor decide which reception customs or speeches to leave out?

No. Questions of family protocol, such as whose speech must appear or which elders are acknowledged, belong to the couple and their families. WeddingEditor edits what you upload and follows the people and moments you list.
