INDIAN WEDDINGS

A sangeet highlight built from the family's own performances

The sangeet is the musical evening before many Indian weddings, often the night before or two. Traditionally the women of the family sang wedding songs together; today it is usually a staged night of rehearsed dances and songs by the two families, cousins, friends, parents and sometimes the couple, often with an emcee and a DJ, and in some families a friendly competition between the bride's side and the groom's. Upload the sangeet footage as its own WeddingEditor project, give the AI editing the running order, and it finishes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser around the acts you pick.

How to get a sangeet highlight

  1. 1

    Upload the whole evening

Add the stage performances, the audience reactions, the couple's own dance, any speeches and the open dancing. Sangeets are long, often with a dozen or more acts, and every file you shot can go in.

  2. 2

    Send the running order

In the moments question, list the performances in order with who performed each, then mark the ones that must be in. Ask for audience reactions, such as the grandparents laughing, if they matter. Use the audio question to say whether the family's live singing should lead.

  3. 3

    Get the sangeet film

Buy One Wedding or use a plan credit, then start processing; 24 to 72 hours is typical. For this Indian sangeet film, WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the edit and it is delivered to your project. Watch it in the app, download the 1080p MP4, and email up to two rounds of notes.

What happens at a sangeet, in order

Sangeets vary from an intimate evening of folk songs at home to a hotel ballroom with a stage. Some families combine it with the mehndi or the cocktail party.

1. Welcome

Guests arrive in festive clothes, the families are seated near the stage, and an emcee or a cousin often hosts.

2. Performances

Rehearsed dances and songs by relatives and friends follow one after another, often weeks in the making. Some families keep traditional songs sung by the women of the house.

3. The couple's turn

Many couples perform together, sometimes as a surprise, and parents and grandparents often have a short act of their own.

4. Open dancing

After the programme, the DJ opens the floor and the evening becomes a party.

Long events fit in one project

There is no limit on the number of files or the total size of a project, so a long sangeet can go in whole.

Real sound carries the music

The performances' tracks and live singing stay as your cameras recorded them in the video files, with music alongside, balanced by your audio preference.

What is a sangeet?

A sangeet is a pre-wedding evening of music and dance at many Indian weddings, where the families and friends of the couple sing and perform, traditionally led by the women of the family.

The mehndi centres on the bride's henna and the cocktail party on drinks and the couple's friends. Some weddings merge all three, which is fine: describe what happened in your notes.

Sangeet highlight questions

There were fifteen performances. Can a highlight fit them?

Not all of them in full. List the acts that must appear, and the others are left out or kept brief. A Highlight Reel runs about 5 minutes.

Can the parents' dance play almost uncut?

Ask for it in the must-include question and say you want it mostly whole. The AI editing follows your priorities.

Will the performances' songs be heard?

The sound your cameras recorded at the sangeet, including the songs performers danced to, is used together with music, balanced by your audio preference. How the couple shares the film is between you and them.

Should the sangeet and the mehndi be one film?

If they were the same evening and the couple wants one film, upload both into one project. Separate projects give separate films.

Can I add titles naming each performance?

Yes, after download, in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. The delivered MP4 has no added titles.

What if the edit leaves out an act the couple wanted?

Ask for it in a revision. Up to two rounds are included, requested by email from the app.

Does WeddingEditor decide which sangeet performances are included?

No, that is the family's decision, for example whether every relative's performance must appear. WeddingEditor's AI editing follows the performers and songs you name from what you upload.
