EDIT PREFERENCES

Brief your wedding edit before WeddingEditor makes it

Before checkout, a short set of optional questions sets the feel of the film, the balance of real audio and music, and which people and parts of the day to prioritize. Before processing starts, you can name the people, speeches and moments that must be in it, and anything to avoid. Your answers guide WeddingEditor's AI edit of your footage.

Creating an account is free; you only pay when you are ready to start an edit.

Where the preferences fit in your order

  1. 1

    Create the project and upload

Start a wedding project, choose a Highlight Reel or a Social Teaser, and upload your footage. The questions belong to that project, so every wedding gets its own brief.

  2. 2

    Answer "Your preferences" before checkout

Three choice questions set the overall direction: how the film should feel, how the audio should be used, and which people and parts of the day to prioritize. Pick what fits, or move on.

  3. 3

Fill in "Before we start" before processing

Four open questions take the details only you know: who to feature, which speeches or voices matter, the moments that must be included, and anything to avoid. Each answer can be up to 2,000 characters.

  4. 4

Start processing with your brief attached

Your answers are saved with the project when you pay or spend a credit, and WeddingEditor's AI edit works from them and from your footage. Processing typically takes 24 to 72 hours.

What a good brief gives WeddingEditor

Knowledge the footage cannot show

WeddingEditor brings editing judgment to the whole upload. You bring what matters personally: a parent, a ritual or an inside joke can matter enormously even when nothing about it is visually obvious. The preference questions are how that knowledge reaches the edit, so the first cut is aligned with the couple rather than guessing at them.

One direction for the whole film

"How should your film feel?" offers four directions: Emotional & Cinematic, Fun & Energetic, Romantic & Elegant, or Natural & Documentary-style. Choose the one that matches the couple and the day, not a general look you like for your portfolio.

How the four styles change the edit

A balance between voices and music

"How should we use the audio?" asks whether vows, speeches and real conversation should carry more of the film, share it with music, or step back while music leads. The choice sets the balance; it does not switch either one off.

How the audio preferences work

Priorities across the day

"What should we prioritize?" accepts several answers: The couple, Family & reactions, Wedding party & friends, Ceremony & vows, and Reception & dancing. If no single part of the day should lead, choose A balanced mix, which stands on its own rather than combining with the others.

Names, moments and things to leave out

The four open questions are where a brief becomes specific: the grandmother in the green dress, the best man's toast, the first look by the lake, and the camera-test clip nobody should see. Plain sentences work best, with a time of day if you remember it.

Naming the people who matterMust-include and avoid instructions

Skipped questions stay skipped

Every question is optional. If you leave one blank, nothing is assumed or filled in for it, so a two-line brief is fine. The more WeddingEditor knows about what matters, the better aligned the first edit can be, but a quiet brief still gets a full edit of the wedding.

Fixed when you pay, adjustable through revisions

Your answers are locked with the project when you pay or spend a credit, because the edit is made from them. If something needs to change once the edit is delivered, send it as revision notes: full edits include up to two revision rounds.

Questions videographers ask about edit preferences

Do I have to answer the preference questions?

No. Every question is optional, and nothing is assumed for the ones you skip. Answer only what you have a view on; the rest is left to WeddingEditor's editing judgment. See Do I have to answer the preference questions?.

Are the preferences fixed presets?

No. They influence the edit rather than behaving like rigid formulas. A Fun & Energetic film still keeps a meaningful vow, and a Mostly music-led film can still let one important line be heard.

Do the preferences guide the Try Before You Buy sample too?

Yes. Answers given before you buy the sample are used for it as well, so the short sample reflects the direction you chose. The full edit is a separate purchase.

Can I change my answers after I pay?

Your answers are saved with the project when you pay or spend a credit, and the edit is made from them. After delivery, changes go through your revision rounds: full edits include up to two.

Do the questions work for a Social Teaser as well as a Highlight Reel?

Yes. The same optional questions appear for a wedding project whichever deliverable you chose when you created it. In a teaser of about one minute, fewer moments fit, so naming the essentials matters more.

Do preferences cost extra?

No. They are part of ordering an edit. You pay, or use a plan credit, before processing starts: One Wedding is $119 one-time for one wedding, or choose a monthly plan.
