Your Telugu wedding footage, edited around the muhurtham
Most Telugu Hindu weddings are built around one fixed point: the muhurtham, the auspicious time the family's priest sets for the mangalsutra, which can fall early in the morning or late at night. Around it sit the pellikuthuru and pellikoduku at each family's home, the Gowri puja, the kasi yatra, jeelakarra bellam behind a held cloth, the three knots of the mangalsutra, talambralu and the appagintalu farewell. Upload one event or the whole wedding as a WeddingEditor project, note who and what matters in the preferences, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.
Telugu families may be Hindu, Christian or Muslim. This page follows the Hindu ceremony, and practice varies by family, region and community.

How to get a Telugu wedding edited
- 1
Upload what each day produced
A Telugu wedding commonly gives you a pellikuthuru at the bride's home, a pellikoduku at the groom's, a long ceremony in a hall or temple and an evening reception, often filmed by more than one shooter. Put the whole wedding in one project for a single film, or give an event its own project if the family wants it separately. Add every camera's clips as they are; there is no file count limit and each file may be up to 5 GB.
- 2
Write the brief only you can write
WeddingEditor was not in the mandapam and cannot know which uncle carried the basket. Use the optional questions to describe the bride and groom's outfits for each event, list the rituals you want in the order they happened, say how much of the mantras and the nadaswaram should be heard, and name anything to keep out. Skipped questions are left blank, not guessed.
- 3
Start processing, then review
Pay for One Wedding or spend a plan credit and start the edit. It typically takes 24 to 72 hours, with no promised turnaround. The finished film appears in your project, ready to watch and to download as a 1080p MP4, and up to two rounds of revision notes by email come with it.
Preference notes for a Telugu wedding
Notes like these give the edit names, colors and an order to follow, which is what it needs to find the right clips.
Who to look for
"Bride: white silk saree with a red border for the muhurtham, maroon pattu saree at the reception. Groom: white pancha and kanduva. Feature her two maternal uncles, both in cream shirts, and the groom's grandmother in a green saree in the front row."
Rituals in order
"Please include, in this order: Gowri puja, the bride carried in the basket by her uncles, the kasi yatra, jeelakarra bellam as the cloth comes down, the three knots of the mangalsutra, and at least two rounds of talambralu."
The kasi yatra
"The groom set off with an umbrella, slippers and a walking stick and the bride's brother brought him back. It got a big laugh from both sides; keep that."
A night muhurtham
"Muhurtham was 11.40 pm under warm bulb lights in the hall. Some of the wide shots are dark, so please favor the close camera for the mangalsutra."
Sound
"Balanced speech and music. Let the nadaswaram and drums rise at the mangalsutra, keep a little of the purohit's mantras, and keep the bride's father's words at the appagintalu clear."
Leave out
"No lunch line, no long stage queue at the reception. The cousin in the yellow kurta asked not to appear."
What Telugu wedding footage usually includes
These are common patterns, not rules. Ask the family which events they kept and in what order.
A schedule set by the muhurtham
The time for tying the mangalsutra is chosen in advance from the couple's horoscopes, so the day is planned backward from it. It may be at dawn, midday or late at night, which decides the light the most important moment is filmed in and how tired the guests are.
Two homes before the wedding
Before the ceremony many families hold the pellikuthuru for the bride and the pellikoduku for the groom, each at their own home. Married women of the family apply turmeric and oil, the bride or groom is bathed, dressed in new clothes and given a small black dot on the cheek against the evil eye, and elders bless them with rice.
Rituals built for the camera
Several moments are short and visual: the bride carried to the mandapam in a bamboo basket by her maternal uncles in many families, the couple placing a paste of cumin and jaggery on each other's heads as the cloth between them is lowered, and the talambralu, when they shower each other with turmeric rice.
Sound from the mandapam
The purohit chants Sanskrit mantras through most of the ceremony, the nadaswaram and drums play throughout, and the drumming swells when the mangalsutra is tied. Talambralu usually brings cheering and teasing from both families.
One edit for each project
A project gives you one edit, a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser. A Telugu wedding can therefore be one project, or a few, each using one purchase or one plan credit.
Your sound, with music in support
The mantras and the nadaswaram in your camera audio stay, and music sits alongside them at the balance your audio preference sets. A particular Telugu film song the couple asks for is yours to license and lay in after download.
Telugu wedding events and what to write in the preferences
| Event | What to film or flag | A note for the preferences |
|---|---|---|
| Nischitartham | The families exchanging tambulam, the lagna patrika read aloud by the purohit, in many families rings | "Feature both fathers as the lagna patrika is read." |
| Pellikuthuru and pellikoduku | Turmeric and oil applied by married women, the bath, new clothes, the dot on the cheek, blessings with rice | "Bride's side only; name her aunt who leads the nalugu." |
| Snathakam and kasi yatra | In some families the groom's sacred thread rite, then his mock departure for Kashi and the bride's brother bringing him back | "Keep the brother's bargaining and the laughter." |
| Gowri puja and the entrance | The bride praying to Gowri before the ceremony, then carried in a basket by her uncles | "Must include the basket entrance from the side camera." |
| Muhurtham | Jeelakarra bellam as the cloth comes down, the mangalsutra tied with three knots, rising drums | "Hold on the cloth dropping and the first look." |
| Talambralu and after | Turmeric rice poured in rounds, then saptapadi and in many families the groom placing toe rings | "Two or three rounds of talambralu, including the last." |
| Appagintalu and reception | The bride's family entrusting her to the groom's family, then an evening of stage greetings and dinner | "Keep the appagintalu quiet and close; mostly music-led at the reception." |
What is a Telugu wedding video edit?
A Telugu wedding video edit turns the footage of one or more Telugu wedding events into a short film. With WeddingEditor that film is a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser, cut from the footage you upload by WeddingEditor's AI editing, following the people and rituals you list.
Telugu names a language and the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and their diaspora, not a religion. Tamil and Kannada weddings share some rituals, such as the kasi yatra and the mangalsutra, but differ in many others; the South Indian page compares them.
Telugu wedding editing questions
Can WeddingEditor put a specific Telugu film song over the wedding?
You cannot choose the track. The edit carries the sound recorded on the day, the mantras, the nadaswaram, the cheering at talambralu, with music alongside it as your audio preference sets. If the couple wants one named song, license it and add it yourself after downloading, in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
The muhurtham was in the middle of the night. Will the edit still work?
The edit can only use what you recorded, and WeddingEditor does not relight footage. Say in the moments and avoid questions which camera had the clearest view of the mangalsutra, and the edit will favor those clips.
Should the pellikuthuru go into the same project as the wedding?
That depends on what the family wants. In one project it becomes part of a single highlight of the whole wedding; in its own project it gets its own edit, using its own purchase or credit.
How will WeddingEditor know which relatives carried the basket?
Only from your notes. In the specific people question, describe each person, their relationship to the bride and what they wore, for example "her younger maternal uncle, cream shirt, front left of the basket". Free-text answers can be up to 2,000 characters.
Does WeddingEditor decide which rituals belong in a Telugu wedding film?
No. WeddingEditor works from your footage and your notes; it does not judge which rites matter or what the family, their priest or their temple would consider appropriate to show. Settle that with the couple and write it into the preferences.
My second shooter filmed the pellikoduku at the groom's home. Can they upload?
Yes, if they are signed in to your WeddingEditor team. WeddingEditor can set up a team upload link, and their files are moved into the same project as yours.
What does a Telugu wedding edit cost?
One Wedding is $119 one-time for one wedding; plan subscribers spend one credit per project. Each full edit comes with up to two revision rounds.
