CATHOLIC WEDDINGS

A Catholic wedding highlight that keeps the rite in its order

A nuptial Mass can fill an hour or more of footage before the reception even starts, and a Catholic wedding highlight of about 5 minutes has to choose. Most couples want the parts of the rite that make the marriage: the consent, the blessing and giving of rings, and the nuptial blessing, with a glimpse of the readings, the music and the walk out. Set the project to Highlight Reel, upload the day, list those parts in the order they were celebrated, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the reel and delivers it to your project.

Say whether it was a nuptial Mass or a celebration without Mass. The edit works from your outline of the liturgy.

How to brief a Catholic wedding highlight

  1. 1

    Upload with Highlight Reel selected

Create the project with Highlight Reel as its deliverable and add everything from the day: the bride's preparations, the full liturgy, the family photos on the church steps and the reception. Make sure the camera that heard the consent clearly is in the upload, since that is the moment the reel is built around.

  2. 2

Outline the liturgy and its people

In the moments question, write the parts that must appear in the order they were celebrated, for example the entrance, one reading, the consent, the rings, the nuptial blessing, the sign of peace and the recessional. Name the priest or deacon, the readers and the sponsors, and say in the audio question whether the consent or the choir should lead.

  3. 3

    Watch, download and revise

Start processing after paying for One Wedding or applying a credit; it typically takes 24 to 72 hours. The reel then plays in your project and downloads as a 1080p MP4. Up to two revision rounds by email let you ask for a part of the liturgy that was left out.

Moments to list for a Catholic wedding highlight

List these in the order of the rite, and add a detail that makes each easy to find in a long Mass.

The entrance

The procession down the aisle and the priest welcoming the couple, often to the organ or a choir piece the couple chose.

A line from the Liturgy of the Word

One sentence of a reading or the Gospel, or the cantor singing the psalm refrain, over shots of the couple and their families listening.

The questions and the consent

The priest or deacon asking whether they come freely, will be faithful and will accept children, and the couple's answers and vows. For many couples this is the heart of the reel.

The rings

The blessing of the rings and each partner placing a ring with the words "receive this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity".

The nuptial blessing

The priest's extended blessing over the couple, after the Lord's Prayer at a nuptial Mass or after the universal prayer without Mass, with the couple often kneeling.

Walk out and steps

The final blessing, the recessional and the couple on the church steps, then a toast or the first dance to end the reel.

What a good Catholic wedding highlight balances

The rite against the party

A nuptial Mass is long, and a highlight that follows it closely leaves little room for the reception. Use the priorities question to say whether Ceremony & vows or Reception & dancing should take more of the reel.

Sacred moments the parish may restrict

Some parishes ask that the consecration or Communion not be filmed closely, or at all. If you have little or no footage of those parts, say so, and the reel will lean on the consent, rings and blessing instead.

Choir and cantor between the words

The Gloria, the psalm and a hymn at Communion give a Catholic reel its sound between spoken moments. Say which piece matters to the couple if one does.

Customs added to the rite

Families add customs such as the arras and lazo, a cord and veil, or flowers brought to a statue of Mary. These vary by culture and parish; list the ones that happened.

What the reel leaves out

A Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes samples the liturgy and is the project's one edit. A complete film of the Mass, if the family wants one, is yours to cut from your own footage.

Sound from the church, music in support

The reel can let the organ, the choir and the spoken rite be heard as you recorded them, with music alongside, balanced by your audio preference.

Highlight moments and how to brief them

MomentWhy it mattersHow to brief it
EntranceSets the church and the music"Open on the procession; the choir's entrance hymn audible."
Reading or psalmBrings in the words the couple chose"Her brother's reading from Colossians, one line only."
ConsentThe moment the marriage is made"Keep both vows complete. The camera by the altar rail heard them best."
RingsA visual sign everyone recognizes"Rings close up, with the words spoken."
Nuptial blessingThe Church's blessing over the couple"Couple kneeling, Father Mark's hands extended over them."
Recessional and stepsThe release and the first moments as a married couple"Walk out to the bells, then petals on the steps."

What is a Catholic wedding Highlight Reel?

A Catholic wedding Highlight Reel is a film of about 5 minutes that keeps the defining moments of the Rite of Marriage, the consent, the rings and the nuptial blessing, together with the best of the celebration around it. On WeddingEditor it is the single edit a Highlight Reel project produces, made by WeddingEditor's AI editing from your footage and your outline of the liturgy.

It is not a film of the whole Mass. The reel picks moments from the rite; a full record of the liturgy is something you would cut yourself.

Catholic wedding highlight questions

Will the highlight show Communion?

Only if it is in your footage and you ask for it. Many couples prefer only a brief glimpse, and some parishes restrict filming at that point. Say in the moments question whether to include it, and in the avoid question if it should stay out.

We celebrated without Mass. Is the highlight different?

The reel follows what happened, so note that it was a celebration without Mass and list its parts: readings, homily, consent, rings, the universal prayer and the nuptial blessing. Without the Eucharist there is often more room in the reel for the readings and the reception.

Can the consent run in full inside the highlight?

Yes, if you list it as a must. Spoken in full, the consent takes a noticeable share of a reel this length, so say which other parts can be shorter to make room.

Can the reel include the lazo and the arras?

Yes, when you describe them. Say who the sponsors were, when in the rite the arras and lazo were given, and that they should appear. The edit follows your description rather than assuming how a custom looks.

How do I ask for changes to a Catholic wedding highlight?

Email your notes from the revision link in the app, for example "please add the nuptial blessing and shorten the entrance". Up to two rounds are included, and the same reel is revised.

Can I finish the reel further in my own editor?

Yes. Download the MP4 and add titles or your own touches in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. The reel already pairs your recorded sound with music, balanced by your audio preference.
