A Bengali reception highlight, made as a film of its own
Many Bengali families hold a reception after the wedding, and for many it is the bou bhat, hosted by the groom's family at their home or a hall a day or more after the wedding. Others hold a separate party in a banquet hall. Either way it is a more relaxed evening: the couple dressed in new outfits, a long feast, relatives meeting the bride, sometimes music and dancing. Upload the reception footage as its own WeddingEditor project, describe the evening and the people to feature, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel or Social Teaser.

How to get a reception highlight
- 1
Upload the reception only
Create a project for the reception and add every camera's footage from the evening, including the guests' arrival and the late photos.
- 2
Explain what this reception was
Write whether it was the bou bhat or a separate party, who hosted, and which relatives met the bride for the first time.
- 3
Download and deliver yourself
The finished edit appears in your project for viewing and download as a 1080p MP4. You decide when the couple receives it.
Reception moments to list
The couple's entrance
The couple walking into the hall or appearing on the stage in their reception outfits.
Greeting the elders
The bride touching the feet of the groom's elders, a common gesture of respect.
The feast
Guests seated for the meal, often served course by course.
Gifts
Relatives coming to the stage with gifts and blessings.
Friends
The couple's friends on the dance floor or crowding the stage for photos.
The cake or the toast
In some families a cake cutting or a short speech.
What happens at a Bengali reception
Reception customs vary widely by family. These are common elements, not a fixed order.
Often hosted by the groom's side
The bou bhat reception is held by the groom's family to introduce the new bride to their relatives and community.
A new look
The bride often wears a different sari and jewelry, and the groom a different outfit, from the wedding night.
The meal matters
Food is central to Bengali hospitality, and the reception feast is often long, with many courses.
Meeting the family
Many guests meet the bride for the first time, so greetings and blessings take up much of the evening.
One edit, your recorded sound
The reception becomes one edit, made from the sound and footage you recorded, used together with music as your audio preference sets.
Delivered to your project
WeddingEditor's AI editing makes each full edit before it is delivered to your project.
Parts of the reception and what to note in the preferences
Receptions are looser than the wedding night, so say where the evening's focus should be.
| Part | What it looks or sounds like | What to note in the preferences |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance | Applause, the couple on stage | "Open on the couple walking in." |
| Elders | The bride greeting the groom's grandparents | "Feature his grandmother blessing her." |
| Feast | Long tables, serving | "A short sequence of the food." |
| Gifts | A queue at the stage | "Only close family gifts." |
| Dancing | Friends and cousins | "Keep it short and end on the couple." |
| Family photo | Both families on stage together | "Close with the full family photo." |
What is a Bengali reception?
A Bengali reception is the celebration after the wedding where the couple is introduced to the wider family and community, often hosted by the groom's family as part of the bou bhat.
A reception party is not always the bou bhat ritual itself, in which the groom formally gives his bride rice and clothing. The bou bhat page covers that ritual.
Bengali reception highlight questions
Should the reception be a separate project from the wedding?
If the couple wants a film of each, yes. One project yields one edit.
Can the bhaat kapor ritual open the reception edit?
Yes. If you filmed it at the start of the evening, list it first in the moments question.
The hall was very dark. What should I write?
Say which camera and which part of the evening had usable light. The AI editing works toward one consistent finished look across your footage.
Can the edit show friends dancing?
If the family is happy for it to appear, list it. If not, put it in the avoid question.
The reception was in a different city from the wedding. Does that matter?
No. Upload the reception's footage to its own project and describe the evening; the AI editing works from what is in that project and your notes.
Can speeches be kept in full?
Name the speeches you want in the moments question and say whether they should play in full. The edit keeps your recorded audio.
Does WeddingEditor decide whose toast or greeting must appear?
No. Whose words and which elders must be acknowledged is the family's decision, and WeddingEditor does not decide it. Name them in the people question and the AI editing follows that list.
