TIMELESS HIGHLIGHT REEL

A timeless wedding highlight with fewer cuts and more faces

A timeless Highlight Reel spends its running time of about 5 minutes on fewer moments, each given longer on screen. Rather than racing through every part of the day, it might hold a wide of the venue, let one full exchange of vows play, stay with the parents during the first dance and give a grandparent's words room to be heard, closing on an image the family will want to pause on. You ask for that pacing and those people in the preference questions, and WeddingEditor's AI editing builds the highlight from your footage.

Choosing fewer moments is the hard part. The longer each shot is held, the fewer of them fit.

How to brief a timeless highlight

  1. 1

    Open a Highlight Reel project

Choose Highlight Reel at the start, since a project makes exactly one edit. Upload the whole day from every camera, including the steady tripod angles; those are the shots a timeless highlight can afford to hold.

  2. 2

    Ask for fewer, longer moments

In the preferences make family and the couple your priorities. In the moments question, list a short set of moments, perhaps six or seven, and say that you would rather see each one properly than see everything briefly. Name the relatives whose words should be heard.

  3. 3

    Review the pacing

Processing typically takes 24 to 72 hours, and the highlight then appears in your project. Watch it for pace: if any section feels hurried or fashionable, say so in one of your up to two revision rounds, then download the final 1080p MP4.

Moments a timeless highlight must include

Short list, held moments. Put these in the moments question, with the people named.

A place to begin

"Open on the wide of the stone church from the lane, held, with the bells."

One exchange in full

"Let the ring exchange play complete from both sides, no cutting away."

A parent's moment

"Her mother watching the first dance from the edge of the floor, hold on her."

A grandparent's words

"Grandpa Leonard's toast: keep the line 'sixty-one years and I'd do every one again.'"

Generations together

"The four-generation photo of the women in the family, filmed while it was taken."

A quiet close

"End on the couple sitting together on the church steps after everyone had gone in."

What a timeless highlight balances

Number of moments against time per moment

At about 5 minutes, a highlight that holds its shots can include fewer moments than a fast-cut one. Deciding which moments to drop is the main editorial choice in a timeless brief.

Couple against family

A timeless highlight often widens its view to the generations around the couple, since those are the faces that become precious later. Say how much of the film should belong to family.

Speech that will still mean something

Blessings, a parent's words and a grandparent's toast tend to age better than in-jokes from the best man. Name the voices with lasting meaning.

What the longer film holds

Full speeches, the complete service and the late-night party go into the longer cut you deliver. The highlight keeps the moments the family will return to.

One highlight per project

The Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes and is the only edit its project makes, delivered as a 1080p widescreen MP4, with the real voices and music balanced by your audio preference.

What is a timeless Highlight Reel?

A Highlight Reel is the WeddingEditor deliverable of about 5 minutes, and each project makes one. A timeless one chooses fewer moments and holds them longer, favouring the couple's family and the places of the day, made by WeddingEditor's AI editing from your footage and your notes.

Not the complete wedding film. A timeless highlight leaves most of the day out on purpose; the full service and complete speeches belong in the longer film you edit and deliver.

Timeless highlight questions

How many moments fit in a timeless highlight?

Fewer than in a fast-cut highlight. Many timeless briefs name six to eight moments and ask for each to be seen properly; list yours in order of importance so it is clear what to keep if time runs short.

Can I ask for long uncut shots?

Yes. Say which moments should play without cutting away, such as the ring exchange or a parent's dance, and the edit follows your notes. The edit can only hold a shot as steady as the footage you uploaded.

Should the highlight follow the order of the day?

It can, and many timeless highlights do, but the style does not require it. If you want to open on the closing image or on a grandparent's words, write that instruction plainly.

Is it a problem if the reception was very modern?

No. Timeless is about how the film is cut, not how the party looked. You can still use the avoid question for specific trend markers, such as a neon sign or novelty props.

What happens if a grandparent is missing from the highlight?

Use a revision round. Email which relative is missing and where they appear in the footage, and the same highlight is revised. Up to two revision rounds are included.

Fewer moments, held long enough to matter

Upload the day, list the moments and the family who must be in it, and let each one be held long enough to matter.
