SRI LANKAN WEDDINGS

A Sri Lankan wedding teaser that opens on the drums

A Sri Lankan wedding gives a teaser some of the strongest openings in any wedding: Kandyan drummers and dancers in full costume leading the couple in, a bride in a Kandyan osariya with layered necklaces, the poruwa ringed with flowers, or for a Tamil Hindu couple the thaali tied to the sound of the nadaswaram. The teaser's job is to show one or two of those and leave people waiting for the rest. Create a Social Teaser project, upload the footage, name the beats to open and close on, WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a short widescreen film you can share before the highlight is done.

The drums in the teaser are your drums. The edit uses only the sound you recorded.

How to get a Sri Lankan wedding teaser

  1. 1

Set up a Social Teaser project

Pick Social Teaser when you create the project; one project gives one edit, so a Highlight Reel of the same wedding is another project. Upload the files from every camera, including drone clips of the hotel or the venue if you flew one.

  2. 2

Say how it opens and how it ends

In the moments question, write the opening beat and the closing beat, and one or two in between. In the people question, describe the couple and the parents. Choose "Fun & energetic" if the drums should drive it, or "Romantic & elegant" for a calmer teaser built on the poruwa. If the welcome dance ran long, say which part to use, for example the moment the drummers stopped and the couple stepped forward.

  3. 3

    Download and send notes

Processing typically takes 24 to 72 hours, with no guaranteed turnaround, and the teaser then reaches your project. Download the 1080p MP4 from your project. Up to two rounds of revisions are included if a beat needs to change.

Opening and closing beats for a Sri Lankan teaser

Choose one opening and one closing that fit this couple, and be specific about who is in each shot.

Open: the drummers

"First shot: the Kandyan drummers starting up in the lobby, then the dancers turning as the couple walk in."

Open: the bridal look

"Start close on the bride's necklaces and osariya pleats, then pull out to her and her father."

Open: the nadaswaram

"For the Tamil ceremony, open on the nadaswaram player and cut to the couple at the muhurtham."

Middle: the poruwa

"Show the couple on the poruwa and the girls singing, but stop before the water is poured."

Close: the tied fingers

"End on their tied fingers and the water, then the two of them smiling."

Close: the going away

"Last beat: the couple waving from the car as guests cheer."

What a Sri Lankan wedding teaser needs

A teaser has room for only a few ideas. These are the ones that tend to matter most for a Sri Lankan wedding.

A sound-led opening

Kandyan drums or the nadaswaram announce the wedding before any face appears. Even with music in support, a clean, loud recording of them is the best hook you have.

The tradition in one look

Kandyan bridal dress, a flower-decked poruwa or a thaali tells viewers whose wedding this is. Name the look you want first; WeddingEditor does not decide that for you.

Something held back

Showing the poruwa but holding the tied fingers, or the thaali being lifted but not tied, leaves the highlight with something to give.

Widescreen delivery

The teaser is a 1080p H.264 MP4 in widescreen. Make any portrait crop for phones yourself after download.

Your timing, your couple

WeddingEditor never sends the teaser to the couple. You watch it, finish it in your own editor if you like, and share it when you choose.

What is a Sri Lankan wedding Social Teaser?

A Social Teaser is a short edit from one WeddingEditor project, made to share soon after the wedding and promise the longer film. For a Sri Lankan wedding it often leans on the drums, the bridal dress and one held-back ceremony moment. WeddingEditor's AI editing makes it from your footage and brief, in widescreen 1080p. The order of beats you write in the moments question is what gives it shape, since WeddingEditor was not at the wedding and follows your notes.

It is not a Highlight Reel, a separate project of about 5 minutes, and not a portrait reel for phones.

Sri Lankan wedding teaser questions

Should a Sinhala wedding teaser show the tied fingers?

That is up to you and the couple. Some videographers save it for the highlight, others end the teaser on it. Write your choice in the moments question.

Can the teaser be only the Kandyan dancers and drummers?

Yes, if you say so. Upload the footage and ask in the moments question for the welcome to carry most of the teaser, with the couple in the closing beat.

Can the teaser come from the homecoming instead of the wedding?

Yes. Make the homecoming its own Social Teaser project and upload only its footage.

The couple had a Tamil Hindu ceremony, not a poruwa. Does the teaser change?

Only in what you ask for. Name the thaali tying, the nadaswaram and the elders showering rice as the beats to tease, and describe the bride's silk saree and the groom's veshti so the edit can find them. The rest of the process is the same.

Can the teaser be cut to a baila track I choose?

Not a track you name. If the band played baila and you recorded it, that sound can be used, with music in support by your audio preference; otherwise add a licensed baila song yourself after download.

Can I get a teaser and a highlight of the same Sri Lankan wedding?

Yes, as two projects, one Social Teaser and one Highlight Reel. Each uses a purchase or a plan credit; One Wedding is $119 one-time for one wedding.

Can I post the teaser straight to Instagram Reels?

It is delivered in widescreen, so recrop it in your editor if you need a portrait version.
