ROMANTIC HIGHLIGHT REEL

A romantic highlight film about two people, not the whole day

A romantic Highlight Reel spends its running time of about 5 minutes on the couple rather than on coverage of the whole day. A common shape opens on a line from a letter or the vows, moves through getting ready only briefly, lets the first look and the ceremony carry the middle, rests on the portrait session, and ends on the first or last dance. You set that shape by answering the preference questions and naming the lines and moments, and WeddingEditor's AI editing builds the highlight around them.

About 5 minutes is enough room for two or three spoken lines to land in full. Pick them in advance rather than asking for all of them.

How to brief a romantic highlight

  1. 1

Create a Highlight Reel project and upload

Choose Highlight Reel when you create the project, since each project produces one edit. Upload the full day from both cameras, and note which camera carried the best vow audio, so the clearest version of each line is the one you point to.

  2. 2

Pick the spine of the highlight

In the preferences choose Romantic & Elegant and the couple as priority, then use the must-include question to list, in order, what the highlight must hold: the letter line, the first look, the vow lines, one portrait sequence, the first dance. Add a note on the one line you want the film to open or close on.

  3. 3

Watch the highlight against your list

After processing, which typically takes 24 to 72 hours, watch the finished highlight in your project and check each item on your list. Download the 1080p MP4, and if a line was cut or the order feels wrong, send it in one of your up to two revision rounds.

Moments a romantic highlight must include

Write these into the question about moments that absolutely need to be included. Order them the way the film should flow.

An opening line

"Open on her saying 'you're my favourite person to do nothing with' from the letter reading, before we see either of them."

The first look in full

"Let the first look play from his turn to their first kiss without cutting away to guests."

Two vow lines, not all of them

"From the vows, keep his promise about Sunday pancakes and her line about the hospital waiting room."

One portrait sequence

"Use the walk through the olive trees at sunset, the part where they are laughing, not the posed stills."

A small detail

"Her grandmother's ring being turned on her finger during the toasts."

The last image

"End on the two of them alone on the dance floor after the lights came up."

What a romantic highlight balances

Speech against images

A highlight of this length cannot hold every vow and every letter. Romantic highlights tend to let two or three full sentences play out and carry the rest with images and music, so choosing those sentences is the most useful thing you can do.

The couple against the crowd

Guests matter where they react to the couple: a father during the vows, friends during the first dance. Wide crowd shots and table coverage usually give way to the couple's quieter moments.

Chronology against feeling

Many romantic highlights loosely follow the day but are free to open on a line recorded hours later. Say whether you want the film strictly in order or built around one returning idea.

What stays in your longer film

Full speeches, the whole ceremony and every reception set belong in the longer film you deliver yourself. The highlight is the short version the couple will rewatch most.

One edit, about 5 minutes

A Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes and is the single edit of its project, delivered as a 1080p MP4 you can bring into Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.

Briefing the romantic moments

MomentWhy it matters in a romantic highlightHow to brief it
Letter readingGives the film a voice before any picture of the weddingQuote the line and say which file or time it is near
First lookThe most unguarded reaction of the day for many couplesAsk for it uncut from the turn to the first words
VowsThe emotional centre and usually the clearest audioName the exact lines; let the rest go
Portraits at golden hourVisual breathing room between speech-led sectionsPoint to the sequence where they are relaxed, not posing
First danceMovement and closeness after the formal partAsk for close shots over wide room coverage

What is a romantic Highlight Reel?

A Highlight Reel is the WeddingEditor deliverable of about 5 minutes, and one project makes one. A romantic one uses that length to follow the couple through the day, made by WeddingEditor's AI editing from your footage and the moments you list.

Not the full wedding film. The complete ceremony, every speech and the full reception stay in the longer cut you edit and deliver yourself; the highlight is a short film on top of it.

Romantic highlight questions

How many vow lines fit in a romantic highlight?

There is no fixed number, but about 5 minutes of film rarely holds more than two or three lines played in full alongside the first look and the dance. Name the lines you care about most and accept that the rest will be shown, not heard.

Can the highlight start with audio from the letter reading?

You can ask for it. Write in the preferences that the film should open on that line and say where it is in the footage, and the edit is built from that note.

What if the first look was filmed on one camera only?

That is enough if the framing is close. Mention it in your notes, and point to the reaction you want kept.

Will the highlight include the speeches?

Only the parts you ask for. In a romantic highlight, a single sentence from a toast that speaks directly to the couple usually earns its place; the rest belongs in the longer film.

Can I ask for changes after watching it?

Yes. Up to two revision rounds are included: email your notes from the link in the app, such as a vow line to restore, and the same highlight is revised.

Is the highlight delivered in a vertical format too?

No. The Highlight Reel is a widescreen 1080p MP4, and there is no vertical version.
