OUTDOOR WEDDING HIGHLIGHT

An outdoor wedding highlight that follows the light from day to dusk

Outdoor highlights tend to tell the day through its light. They open on the setting in daylight, keep the ceremony from the angle with the clearest sound, drift through drinks on the lawn and portraits at golden hour, and end in the evening under festoon lights or around a fire. WeddingEditor's Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes long, enough for that arc with room for a speech line or two. You set the moments in the preference questions, and the AI editing follows them.

When wind spoils one camera's audio, the note about which camera to trust is worth more than any other.

How to brief an outdoor highlight

  1. 1

    Upload the open-air day

Create a project with Highlight Reel as the deliverable and upload the full day: garden prep, the ceremony from every angle, the lawn, golden hour and the evening. Landscape shots and drone clips earn their place in an outdoor highlight, so send them.

  2. 2

Point to the best light and sound

List the must-include moments in order. Say which camera recorded the vows most clearly, which portraits were taken in the best light, and whether the weather should appear. Name the people the couple will look for.

  3. 3

    Review and download

The highlight typically arrives 24 to 72 hours after processing starts. Watch it, download the MP4, and send any changes by email in one of up to two revision rounds.

Moments to put on the must-include list

A typical outdoor arc, from daylight to dark. Swap in what actually happened on your day.

The setting before the guests

Chairs on the lawn, the arch with flowers, the view behind it. An outdoor highlight usually opens here.

The aisle in the open

The walk down a grass aisle, with the wind in the veil if it was up.

Vows with clear sound

One or two lines from each vow, from the camera you name as having the cleanest audio.

A weather moment

If it rained or the wind took the order of service, a few seconds of it can be the most honest part of the film. Say if the couple want it.

Golden hour portraits

The couple in low sun in a meadow, orchard or vineyard row.

Evening under the lights

The first dance or the party under festoon lights, or sparklers on the lawn.

What a good outdoor highlight balances

Setting and people

Wide shots of gardens and landscapes are tempting, but the couple will watch for faces. Ask for a few views, not many.

Clear sound and good pictures

Sometimes the best-looking ceremony clip has the worst wind noise. Say which matters more for the vows.

Day and night

The highlight usually moves from bright daylight to evening. Ask for it to follow the day in order so the light changes once, not back and forth.

Plan and reality

If the weather moved things, the film can show the change or quietly skip it. Your note decides.

About five minutes, a single edit

The Highlight Reel runs about 5 minutes and is the only edit its project produces.

Longer moments stay with you

The complete ceremony and the full speeches belong in a longer film you cut yourself.

What is an outdoor wedding Highlight Reel?

A Highlight Reel is WeddingEditor's edit of about 5 minutes that tells the wedding's story through its key moments. For an outdoor wedding it usually follows the day from bright ceremony light to the evening. AI editing makes one per project from the footage you upload.

It is not the full wedding film. An outdoor ceremony in full, with every speech, would not fit in about five minutes; cut that version yourself if the couple want it.

Outdoor highlight questions

Can the highlight open on the drone shot of the garden?

Yes, if you uploaded it. Name it as the opening in the must-include question.

Should the rain appear in the highlight?

Only if the couple want it. Some love the laugh of everyone running for the tent; others would rather forget it. Say which in the preferences.

Will the highlight use the camera with the best picture or the best sound?

The one you ask for. If they differ, say in the audio question which camera to use for the vows.

The evening clips are dark. Can they still be used?

Yes. WeddingEditor works toward one consistent finished look from daylight to festoon lights, though it can only use what you captured. Name your best-lit evening clips for the moments that matter most.

Is the highlight delivered vertically for phones?

No. It is a widescreen 1080p MP4. Crop a vertical version yourself if you need one.

How do I request changes to the highlight?

Email your notes from the link in the app. Up to two revision rounds are included on the same highlight.
