DESTINATION WEDDING HIGHLIGHT

A destination wedding highlight that carries the place and the trip

A destination highlight has two subjects: the wedding and the place the couple chose for it. Many open on the setting, a harbor, a mountain road or a hotel terrace, touch on the welcome evening, spend most of their time on the ceremony and the reception, and close on something only that trip had, a boat at sunset or a last swim. WeddingEditor's Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes long, so weighting the days matters. You do that in the preference questions, and WeddingEditor's AI editing follows that weighting.

Say how much of the highlight belongs to the wedding day and how much to the rest of the trip.

How to brief a destination highlight

  1. 1

Upload the days you want in the film

Create a Highlight Reel project and upload the footage from the days you want it to cover. If the welcome dinner should be its own film, keep it for a separate project; otherwise include it here with the wedding day and the farewell.

  2. 2

Weight the days and name the places

In the must-include question, list each day's key moments and say how much weight each day gets, for example mostly the wedding day with short bookends. Describe the places so the edit can tell the terrace from the chapel, and name the people who travelled.

  3. 3

    Watch, download, revise

The highlight typically arrives 24 to 72 hours after you start processing. Watch it in the app and download the MP4. If the balance between the days is off, say so in one of up to two revision rounds.

Moments to put on the must-include list

A common destination arc. Change it to match the trip you filmed.

The place, early

A harbor, a coastline, a mountain view or the old town. One or two shots set the scene for everyone who did not travel.

The welcome evening

A toast or a hug from the night before, a few seconds to show the guests arriving from far away.

Vows against the view

The ceremony with the setting behind it. Name the angle that shows both the couple and the place.

Something local

A local band, a folk dance, a regional dish, a custom the couple adopted for the day.

The party

Dancing outdoors, often late and warm.

The last day

A boat, a beach or a farewell brunch to close the story of the trip.

What a good destination highlight balances

Place and people

Scenery is what makes a destination highlight different, but the couple chose the place for the people with them. Ask for the setting as a frame, not the subject.

The wedding day and the rest

Several days of footage compete for about five minutes. Say how the time should be split.

Familiar and local

The vows and the first dance are expected; the local touches are what make the film theirs. Name them.

Travel footage

Planes, airports and car rides rarely belong in the highlight unless they meant something. Say if they did.

About five minutes, one per project

The Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes long and is the one edit its project produces; a separate film of another day needs another project.

The longer cut is yours

The full ceremony, every speech and each day in detail belong in any longer film you cut yourself.

What is a destination wedding Highlight Reel?

A Highlight Reel is WeddingEditor's edit of about 5 minutes that tells the wedding's story through its key moments. For a destination wedding it often frames the ceremony and reception with the place and the trip. You get one per project, made by AI editing from what you sent.

It is not a travel film or a record of every day. Several days of events will not fit in about five minutes, so keep a longer cut for yourself if the couple want everything.

Destination highlight questions

Can one highlight cover the welcome dinner, the wedding and the farewell?

Yes, if all three are in the project. Say how much of the highlight each should get, because about five minutes is not much for several days.

Can the highlight start with scenery from the trip?

Yes. Name the opening shot in the must-include question, for example the drone shot of the coast, and the edit is built to open there.

A local band played during dinner. Will it be in the highlight?

If your cameras recorded it and you ask for it, yes. The film uses real wedding audio and music together, and choosing More speeches & voices or Balanced speech & music gives the band you captured more room.

Should travel footage like the flight go in?

Only if it meant something to the couple. Otherwise leave it out of the upload or list it in the avoid question.

Is the destination highlight delivered in 4K?

No. It is a 1080p H.264 MP4 in widescreen, even if you shot in 4K.

Can I ask for changes after watching?

Yes. Up to two revision rounds are included; email notes from the link in the app and the same highlight is revised.
