NEPALI WEDDINGS

A Nepali engagement highlight, made as its own project

A Nepali engagement is the families' formal agreement to the marriage, often weeks or months before the wedding. Customs vary by community, but many engagements include the exchange of rings, tika and blessings from elders, an auspicious offering of food called sagun, and gifts such as clothes and jewelry brought for the bride. To get a highlight of it, upload only the engagement footage as its own WeddingEditor project, name the moments and the people, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.

The edit uses only what you recorded at the engagement, guided by the notes you write.

How to get a highlight of a Nepali engagement

  1. 1

Upload the engagement as its own project

Create a project for the engagement alone and upload every file you shot there, from every camera: the arrival of the groom's family, the gifts, the ring exchange, the tika and the meal. No need to rename or sort first, and every file has to finish uploading, or be left out on purpose, before you check out.

  2. 2

Name the moments and the elders

In the preference questions, list the moments in the order they happened and name the people the family will look for: the grandparents who gave the tika, the aunt who put the ring on the bride's tray, the parents who spoke. Say how the speeches and blessings should be heard, and use the avoid question for anything the family wants left out.

  3. 3

    Receive the highlight

For this Nepali engagement film, buy One Wedding or use a plan credit, then start processing; it typically takes 24 to 72 hours. For this Nepali engagement film, WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the edit and it is delivered to your project. Watch it, download the 1080p MP4, and use up to two revision rounds by email if needed.

Moments of a Nepali engagement to list

Write these into the moments question, in the order they happened.

The families arriving

The groom's family arriving at the bride's home or the venue with gifts, and being welcomed.

The gifts

Trays of clothes, jewelry and sweets set out and presented to the bride.

The sagun

The auspicious food offering shared with the couple, as the family practises it.

The ring exchange

The couple exchanging rings, with both families gathered close.

Tika and blessings

Elders placing tika on the couple's foreheads and blessing them, one by one.

Family photos and the meal

Both families together for photographs, then the meal afterwards.

What happens at a Nepali engagement, in order

This is a common shape. Practice varies between communities and families, so check the order with the family.

1. The proposal is agreed

Before the engagement the families have usually agreed the match, often after consulting a priest about compatibility and an auspicious date.

2. The groom's family arrives

On the day, the groom's family commonly comes to the bride's home or a hired venue, bringing gifts for the bride.

3. Gifts and sagun

The gifts are presented, and many families share sagun, an auspicious offering of food, as part of the blessing.

4. Rings, tika and blessings

The couple exchange rings, and elders from both families place tika on their foreheads and bless them. A meal and celebration often follow.

A highlight of the engagement only

This project's edit is made only from the engagement footage you upload, as a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser. The wedding needs its own project.

The sound you recorded

Speeches, blessings and any music played at the engagement are kept as recorded, used together with music as your audio preference sets.

What is a Nepali engagement?

A Nepali engagement is the ceremony at which two families formally commit to a marriage, commonly with gifts for the bride, the exchange of rings, sagun and tika and blessings from elders, held before the wedding on a date that is often chosen as auspicious.

The engagement is not the wedding ceremony. The swayambar, kanyadan and sindoor belong to the wedding day, which the Nepali wedding pages cover.

Nepali engagement highlight questions

Can the engagement be a separate film from the wedding?

Yes. Upload the engagement footage to its own project. The engagement project then yields its own edit, paid for separately or with a separate plan credit.

How will WeddingEditor know who the elders giving tika are?

From your notes. Name each one and what they wore, for example "the bride's grandfather, white daura suruwal, gives tika first".

Can the blessings be heard in the highlight?

Yes. The edit uses the audio you recorded; ask in the audio question for speech and blessings to be clear.

The family wants the gifts shown but not the jewelry up close. Can I ask for that?

Yes. Put it in the avoid question, and the AI editing leaves those shots out.

Is a Social Teaser better than a highlight for an engagement?

It depends on how the couple will use it. A teaser suits a quick share before the wedding; a highlight suits a fuller keepsake. Choose the edit when you create the project.

Who gives the film to the couple?

You do. WeddingEditor never sends anything to your couple.
