IGBO WEDDINGS

An Igbo wedding highlight built around the search with the cup

The igba nkwu gives an Igbo highlight its center: the bride walking through the crowd with a cup of palm wine, friends teasing, the moment she kneels before the groom, then the dancing and spraying that follow. Around it sit the kola nut and prayers, and for many couples a church ceremony and reception. In about 5 minutes you cannot keep everything, so you choose the order and the faces in the preference questions and WeddingEditor's AI editing cuts the Highlight Reel from your footage.

One Highlight Reel per project. Separate stages can be separate projects.

How to brief an Igbo wedding highlight

  1. 1

Upload everything the highlight should draw from

Create the project as a Highlight Reel and upload the igba nkwu, plus the church and reception if they belong in the same film. Footage goes in straight from the cards.

  2. 2

    Write the story you want

In the moments question list the beats in order, for example "kola nut prayer, bride's search with the cup, kneeling and drinking, couple's dance with spraying, church vows, reception entrance". Name both sets of parents and the elders.

  3. 3

Review the cut and request changes

Processing typically finishes in 24 to 72 hours. Watch the highlight in your project, download it, and if the kneeling moment or a relative is missing, email a note from the link in the app. Up to two revision rounds are included.

Must-include moments for an Igbo highlight

The kola nut

An elder breaking and blessing the kola nut, a short and dignified opening.

The search

The bride moving through the guests with the cup while her friends playfully steer her toward other men.

The kneeling

The bride kneeling before the groom, offering the wine, and the groom drinking before she sips.

The couple's first dance

The couple dancing out together, often with guests spraying money around them.

Gifts for the bride

Relatives presenting gifts or blessings to the new couple.

A church or reception moment

If included, the vows or the grand entrance at the reception.

What a good Igbo highlight balances

The search builds tension

The search with the cup works best when the highlight keeps a few seconds of suspense before the bride reaches the groom.

Elders and youth

Elders lead the kola nut and prayers; friends and cousins make the dancing. A highlight that shows both feels complete.

Attire across stages

If the project covers several days, describe each outfit so the order is clear: george and coral for the igba nkwu, a gown for church.

Speech and music

Bands are loud at the igba nkwu. Say in the audio question which prayers or speeches should be heard.

About 5 minutes

A Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes, and each project yields one edit.

What is an Igbo wedding Highlight Reel?

A Highlight Reel is a single edit of about 5 minutes from a project's footage. For an Igbo wedding it usually follows the igba nkwu from the kola nut to the dancing, and may include the church day and reception if they are in the project.

It is not the whole igba nkwu, which can last most of a day. Keep the complete version for your own longer edit.

Igbo highlight questions

Can the highlight center on the wine search?

Yes. List the search and the kneeling as the moments that must be included, and say how much of the build-up to keep.

Can one highlight include the igba nkwu and the church day?

Yes, if both are uploaded to the same project. List the beats from each day in order.

Will the highlife band be heard?

Yes, if it is in your recording. The edit keeps the original sound and does not add anything.

What if the groom's mother is missing?

Describe her in a revision note and ask for her moment. You have up to two revision rounds on every full edit.

Should the highlight include the knocking or the list?

Only if you filmed them and the family wants them shown. Many families keep the bride price negotiation private; if it is in the project, say in the avoid question whether to leave it out.

Does WeddingEditor deliver the highlight to the couple?

No. It stays in your project; you download it and deliver it when you choose.

Does WeddingEditor decide whether the list negotiation appears?

No. The family decides whether the list and the bride price talks belong in a film others will watch; WeddingEditor does not decide it. Name what to include and what to avoid in the preferences.
