An epic wedding highlight that keeps returning to the horizon
An epic Highlight Reel uses its length of about 5 minutes to travel. It typically opens on the widest shot you have, then alternates between the landscape or venue and the people in it, so each section starts big and ends close: arrival, ceremony, portraits, the crowd at its loudest, a night image. For a multi-day wedding, each day can get its own establishing shot. List those wides and moments in the preference questions and WeddingEditor's AI editing builds the highlight from your footage.
An epic highlight is a sequence of big-to-close movements. Name a wide for each part of the day, not just the opening.

How to brief an epic highlight
- 1
Upload every angle with height
Choose Highlight Reel for the project, then upload the whole celebration, including aerials, balcony and stage angles, and footage from other days. Drone files go in as they are, with no proxies needed.
- 2
List a wide and a close for each section
Choose Emotional & Cinematic. In the moments question, pair each part of the day with the establishing shot that should open it and the close moment that should end it. Mark the single widest shot you want as the film's first image.
- 3
Check the journey
Processing typically takes 24 to 72 hours. Watch the highlight in your project and check that the sense of place holds across the whole film, not only the opening. Download the 1080p MP4, and use up to two revision rounds by email for any section that feels cramped.
Moments an epic highlight must include
Pairs of wide and close shots work well in this question. Write them in film order.
First image
"Drone rise from the lake to reveal the villa and the mountains behind. Nothing before it."
Ceremony pair
"Wide of the open-air terrace with all 250 chairs, then the bride's father's face as she walks."
Portrait pair
"Couple tiny on the glacier viewpoint, then the two of them close, wind in her veil."
The crowd
"The hora with the whole room lifting the chairs, from the mezzanine."
Day two
"Boat day: the aerial of the boat on the bay, then the couple jumping in."
Night close
"Lanterns released over the valley, then her watching them go."
What an epic highlight balances
Wide against close
Too many wides and the film feels like a travel reel; too few and the scale disappears. Many epic highlights open each section wide and resolve it on a face.
Place against people
The landscape sells the scale but the couple carries the story. Name the moments where the two of them need to be clearly seen.
One day against several
About 5 minutes can cover a three-day celebration if each day gets a clear marker. Say how much weight each day should have.
What the longer film keeps
Full ceremonies, speeches, and long aerial sequences belong in the longer film you deliver yourself. The highlight takes the strongest beats of scale.
One highlight, delivered at 1080p
A Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes, the single edit of its project, delivered as a 1080p MP4 even when you upload 4K or drone sources.
Briefing the scale
| Moment | Why it matters in an epic highlight | How to brief it |
|---|---|---|
| Opening aerial | Places the whole wedding in its landscape at once | Name the file and the direction of the move |
| Venue wide at the ceremony | Shows how many people came and where | Point to the highest angle you have |
| Couple in the landscape | Joins the scale to the two people at its centre | Pair a distant wide with a close shot |
| Crowd peak | The loudest, fullest moment of the celebration | Pick the angle that shows the whole room |
| Other days | Keeps a multi-day story clear | One establishing shot per day |
| Night spectacle | A final image of size | Fireworks, lanterns or the lit venue from afar |
What is an epic Highlight Reel?
A Highlight Reel is the WeddingEditor deliverable of about 5 minutes, and each project makes one. An epic one moves between the landscape, the venue and the crowd and the couple at the centre of them, made by AI editing from your footage and the wides you list.
Not a travel film or a drone reel. The aerials serve the wedding; the couple and their guests still have to carry the highlight.
Epic highlight questions
How many drone shots belong in an epic highlight?
Enough to open and mark each section, usually a handful. Beyond that, aerials start to crowd out the people. Name your favourites and ask for the rest to be used sparingly.
Can one highlight cover a whole destination week?
Yes, if all the footage is in one project. Say which days matter most; a highlight of about 5 minutes cannot give every day equal time.
What if my wides are shaky or soft?
The edit can only use what was shot. Point to the steadiest versions in the preferences so they are favoured.
Will the highlight be in 4K?
No. Upload 4K and drone footage freely, but the finished highlight is delivered as a 1080p MP4.
Can I revise the balance of wides and close shots?
Yes. Up to two revision rounds by email are included with every full edit, and each one adjusts the same highlight.
