An editorial wedding highlight arranged in chapters, like a magazine
An editorial Highlight Reel tends to move in clear sections rather than one continuous flow. A common layout opens on a sequence of details, moves to the couple getting dressed, gives a block to composed portraits, shows the ceremony in a few balanced wide frames, and closes on a styled reception image. In about 5 minutes each chapter gets enough time to breathe. You lay out those chapters in the preference questions, and WeddingEditor's AI editing builds the highlight from the footage you upload.
Think of the brief as a table of contents. The clearer the chapters, the more editorial the highlight feels.

How to brief an editorial highlight
- 1
Upload all of it into a Highlight Reel project
Create the project as a Highlight Reel, the one edit it will produce. Add the detail sessions, portrait setups, ceremony and reception, plus any drone passes over the venue. Large 4K clips are accepted and the highlight is delivered at 1080p.
- 2
Write the chapters in order
Choose Romantic & Elegant, Mostly music-led and The couple. In the must-include question, list the chapters with the shots that anchor each one, for example details, dressing, portraits, ceremony, evening. Say which portrait setup is the hero and which detail should open the film.
- 3
Review the structure
Processing typically takes 24 to 72 hours. Watch the highlight in your project and check that each chapter is there and in order before you download. If a chapter is too thin, say so by email; up to two revision rounds are included.
Moments an editorial highlight must include
List them chapter by chapter in the must-include question, with the shot that should open each chapter.
Opening detail
"Open on the wax seal being pressed onto the invitation envelope."
Dressing chapter
"The tailor's final pin on his jacket, then her veil being lifted out of its box."
Hero portraits
"The three portrait setups in the gallery: stairwell, white wall, window. Stairwell first."
Ceremony in wide frames
"Two or three wide symmetrical frames of the chapel, then the ring exchange close."
Design reveal
"The dining room before guests, slow slider pass along the table."
Closing image
"End on the couple framed in the courtyard arch at dusk, both still."
What an editorial highlight balances
Details against people
An editorial highlight can drift into a product video if details take over. Many editors keep detail chapters short and return to the couple between them; say how much weight you want on each.
Composition against coverage
When the same moment exists as a composed shot and as reactive handheld, the editorial choice is usually the composed one, even if it is slightly less spontaneous.
Clear chapters against flow
Distinct sections are part of the look. If you prefer them to blend, note it; otherwise list them as separate chapters.
What the longer film keeps
Every vow, all the toasts and the dance floor footage belong in the complete film you deliver yourself; the editorial highlight is the curated version.
About 5 minutes, one edit
The Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes and the only edit of its project, delivered as a 1080p MP4 you can finish in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
Briefing an editorial highlight chapter by chapter
| Chapter | Why it matters in an editorial highlight | How to brief it |
|---|---|---|
| Details | Sets the design language of the wedding | Name the opening detail and two or three more |
| Getting dressed | Bridges objects and people | Point to the tailoring or veil moments |
| Portraits | The visual centre of an editorial film | Rank your portrait setups |
| Ceremony | Shows the space with balance and restraint | Ask for wide frames plus one close moment |
| Reception design | Reveals the styled room | Point to the before-guests pass |
| Closing frame | Leaves the film on a composed image | Name the frame and the time of day |
What is an editorial Highlight Reel?
A Highlight Reel is the WeddingEditor deliverable of about 5 minutes, made as the single edit of a project. An editorial one is arranged in visual chapters of details, portraits and venue, built by AI editing from your footage and the order you set.
Not a full wedding film. Complete speeches, the whole ceremony and the dancing stay in the longer cut you edit; the highlight is the styled, curated short.
Editorial highlight questions
How many chapters fit in an editorial highlight?
Five or six usually fit comfortably in about 5 minutes. More than that and each one gets too short to read as a section.
Can the highlight open on details instead of the couple?
Yes, if you ask. Name the opening detail in the must-include question and say that the couple should appear after it.
What if I only have a short portrait session?
Even a few setups can anchor the portrait chapter. Rank them so the strongest is used first, and say if the chapter can be shorter.
Will the speeches be in it?
Only if you ask for a line. Editorial highlights often use one short spoken moment and let music carry the rest of the film.
Can I adjust the chapter order after delivery?
Yes. Send the new order by email from the link in the app; up to two revision rounds are included, and each one reworks the same highlight.
