Wedding video upload: getting a whole day of footage to your editor

Uploading wedding video for editing means moving every raw file from the day, often hundreds of clips across several cameras, to wherever it will be cut. In WeddingEditor you do that in the browser: drag in .mov, .mp4 and .wav files, with no limit on the number of files or the total size of the project, and up to 5 GB per file. Keep the tab open while files transfer; if an upload is interrupted, select the same original files again to continue.

Creating an account is free; you only pay when you are ready to start an edit.

What a good wedding upload looks like

Every camera in one project

Footage from the main camera, the second shooter, a gimbal and a drone all go into the same wedding project.

Files as they came off the cards

No renaming, sorting by camera, proxies or pre-selected clips.

Every file finished before checkout

Each file must finish uploading, or be deliberately left out, before you check out.

Unique names across cameras

Two cameras often write files with the same names. File names must be unique within a wedding project, so rename any clashes before upload rather than discovering them halfway through a long transfer.

Footage locked once you pay

After payment the footage is locked, so the edit is made from exactly what you uploaded.

What uploading wedding footage for editing involves

Uploading wedding footage for editing is a transfer problem as much as an editing one. A full wedding can be hundreds of files and a large amount of data from several cameras and audio recorders, and an editor needs all of it to choose the best moments. Traditionally that meant shipping drives or using a file-sharing service with its own limits and expiry dates. WeddingEditor builds the upload into the project. Files go from your browser straight to cloud storage, the project tracks which files have finished, and nothing is processed until every file is in or deliberately left out. File names must be unique within a project, which matters when two cameras use the same naming pattern.

Not a video hosting or sharing site. Uploads are for making your edit, not for publishing or sharing with guests.

How to upload a wedding to WeddingEditor

  1. 1

    Create the project first

Name the wedding and choose a Highlight Reel or a Social Teaser. The upload belongs to that project, so start a separate project for each wedding you shoot.

  2. 2

    Drag in every file

Add video and audio files from every camera and recorder. The picker names .mov, .mp4 and .wav files.

  3. 3

    Keep the tab open

Leave the browser tab open while files transfer. If the connection drops, select the same original files again to continue.

  4. 4

    Check before you pay

Make sure every file shows as uploaded, or is deliberately left out, then answer the preference questions and check out.

No total size limit

There is no total size limit for a wedding project.

Up to 5 GB per file

Each file uploads as one direct transfer of up to 5 GB.

Browser upload, straight to storage

Video and audio go from your browser directly to cloud storage.

Drone and 4K clips

Drone and 4K clips can be uploaded; the edit is delivered at 1080p.

Nothing to prepare first

You do not need to rename files, sort clips by camera, make proxies or choose the good takes before uploading; send the cards as they are, apart from fixing duplicate names.

Team uploads

Teammates signed in to your WeddingEditor team can add files through a team upload link that WeddingEditor sets up for you.

Upload limits and rules

Files over 5 GB

A single file larger than 5 GB cannot be uploaded as one transfer. Split very long recordings in camera or before upload.

The tab must stay open

Uploads do not run unattended after you close the tab; reselect the same files to continue.

Unique file names

Two files with the same name cannot sit in one project, so rename duplicates from different cameras before upload.

Locked after checkout

Once you pay or use a credit, the footage is locked. Late files from a second shooter cannot be added to that edit, so collect everything first.

No uploads from couples

Couples, clients and other people outside your WeddingEditor team cannot upload through a shared link.
