PUNJABI WEDDINGS

A Punjabi reception highlight, from the entrance to the last bhangra

A Punjabi wedding reception is the party after the rituals, often hosted by the groom's family in a banquet hall on the wedding night or a day or two later. It usually brings a grand entrance for the couple, speeches, a cake or a first dance for some couples, family performances, and hours of bhangra and giddha to the dhol and a DJ. Upload the reception as its own project, list the moments and speakers that matter, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.

How to get a highlight of the reception

  1. 1

    Upload the reception footage

Make a project for the reception and add every camera's files and any audio you recorded from the DJ desk or the speeches. A whole evening of dancing can go in; the project has no cap on file count or total size.

  2. 2

Brief the speeches and the dance floor

In the preferences, list the speakers in order and say which speeches must be heard clearly. Name the relatives who danced the most, any family performance to feature, and whether you want the dance floor to dominate or stay short.

  3. 3

Get the edit and revise it

Pay or use a plan credit and start processing. The edit typically takes 24 to 72 hours, is made by WeddingEditor's AI editing, and arrives as a 1080p MP4. Up to two revision rounds are included by email.

Moments of a Punjabi reception to list

The couple's entrance

The couple entering the hall, often with the dhol leading and the families dancing them in.

The speeches

Toasts from the best friend, a brother or sister, and in some families the fathers.

Family performances

Choreographed dances by cousins or the couple's friends, which families often want shown whole in the longer film and represented briefly here.

Bhangra and giddha

The men's bhangra and the women's giddha circles at their peak.

The couple together

A slow first dance, or the couple dancing with their grandparents.

Money over heads

In many families relatives wave notes over the couple's heads (vaarna) and give them to the musicians.

What happens at a Punjabi reception, in order

Receptions vary more than any other Punjabi event. Use this as a guide and follow the family's actual running order.

1. Arrival and entrance

Guests gather, and the couple enters to the dhol or a chosen song, often after a change of outfit from the ceremony.

2. Speeches and welcome

Hosts welcome the guests; in many receptions friends and relatives give speeches.

3. Performances and dinner

Family dance performances, dinner, and sometimes a cake or first dance.

4. The dance floor

The evening ends with long stretches of bhangra and giddha, led by the dhol and the DJ.

The hall as it sounded

The highlight uses the DJ, the dhol and the speeches as you recorded them, and music works with them as your audio preference sets.

About five minutes

A Highlight Reel runs about 5 minutes, so the dance floor and the speeches are represented by short moments, not kept whole.

What is a Punjabi wedding reception?

A Punjabi wedding reception is the celebration that follows the ceremony, usually hosted by the groom's family, where the newly married couple is introduced to a large gathering of family and friends with food, speeches and dancing.

It is not the sangeet or the jaggo, which come before the wedding, and not the ceremony itself. In some families the reception is merged with the wedding day; say which parts belong to it.

Punjabi reception highlight questions

Can the reception be its own highlight?

Yes. Create a project for the reception only and upload its footage. WeddingEditor's AI editing makes one edit from it, a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.

Which speeches will the AI editing keep?

The ones you name. List the speakers in order and mark which ones must be heard; without that, the choice is left to WeddingEditor.

Can the highlight use the DJ's songs?

The music played in the hall and caught by your cameras can be used, together with music chosen for the edit, as your audio preference sets. A specific song is not promised.

Can I keep the bar and some guests out of the film?

Yes. Describe what or who to avoid in the preferences, and the AI editing leaves them out.

Can I use one credit for the reception and another for the ceremony?

Yes. Each project uses one purchase or one credit and produces one edit, so separate events can be separate projects.

Will WeddingEditor judge which reception moments suit the family?

No. WeddingEditor does not set family or cultural protocol for a reception film. It edits the files you send and follows the preferences you write, so agree any limits with the couple first.
