POLISH WEDDINGS

An oczepiny highlight, from the veil to the last game

The oczepiny is the Polish wedding custom that usually happens around midnight, when the bride's veil is taken off to mark her change to married woman. Historically the veil was replaced with a cap; today it is more often followed by the veil and tie toss and a run of games and contests led by the band leader or master of ceremonies. It is loud, playful and full of guests, so many couples want it as a film of its own. Upload the oczepiny as its own WeddingEditor project, list the games and people in the preference questions, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes or a Social Teaser.

How to get a highlight of the oczepiny

  1. 1

Upload the oczepiny as its own project

Create a project and upload just the oczepiny, from every camera. Midnight light is often low and colorful, so include your widest and brightest angles.

  2. 2

    List the games in order

Name each game or contest that happened, who won, who caught the veil and the tie, and which guests reacted best. Say how much of the MC's patter you want heard.

  3. 3

    Pay, receive and revise

Buy One Wedding or use a plan credit, start processing (typically 24 to 72 hours), then watch and download the 1080p MP4. Up to two revision rounds are included by email.

Moments of the oczepiny to list

The unveiling

The bride's mother, or another woman in the family, taking off the veil, in some families with a song.

Veil toss

Unmarried women gathering and the veil thrown; who caught it.

Tie toss

Unmarried men and the groom's tie; who caught it.

The paired dance

The veil and tie catchers made to dance together, often to cheers.

Games

Contests such as questions the couple answer about each other or team games run by the MC.

The crowd

Guests laughing and singing along around the floor.

What happens at the oczepiny, in order

The oczepiny has many local and family versions. Follow the order this band or MC used.

1. Around midnight

The oczepiny usually begins around midnight, after hours of dancing, led by the band leader or a master of ceremonies.

2. The veil comes off

The bride's veil is removed, a symbol of becoming a married woman. In older practice it was replaced by a cap (czepiec), which gives the custom its name.

3. Toss and pairing

The bride throws the veil to unmarried women and the groom throws his tie to unmarried men; the two catchers are often brought together for a dance.

4. Games and contests

The MC runs games for the couple and guests, which differ from wedding to wedding. In some weddings the money dance happens here too.

Low, colorful light

Midnight footage is often lit by party lights; the edit can only use what your cameras captured.

One edit per project

An oczepiny film is one project and one edit, separate from your highlight of the whole day.

What is the oczepiny?

The oczepiny is a Polish wedding custom, usually held around midnight, in which the bride's veil is removed to mark her new status as a married woman, followed today by the veil and tie toss and games led by the band or master of ceremonies.

It is not the money dance, though some weddings include one during the oczepiny, and it is not the poprawiny, which is a second-day party. Say exactly which parts you filmed.

Oczepiny highlight questions

The MC spoke in Polish the whole time. Can the AI editing follow it?

They follow your notes rather than the language. List the games in order and what happened in each, and they use that to find the moments.

Can the highlight show every game?

Only short moments of the best ones. Rank the games in your notes so the strongest get the most room.

Is the oczepiny part of my wedding highlight?

It can be if you upload it into that project and ask for it. A separate oczepiny film is its own project.

Will the party lights look odd?

The edit uses your footage as filmed. Point the edit to the clips where faces are clearest.

Should I include the song when the veil comes off?

If the family sang while the veil was removed and your camera caught it, list it. It is often the most emotional part of the oczepiny.

Can I ask for changes?

Yes. Up to two revision rounds are included, sent by email from the link in the app.

Does WeddingEditor decide which games are fine for the family to share?

No, that is the couple's decision. WeddingEditor edits the footage you upload and follows your avoid notes, so name any game that should stay out.
