Wedding short film, made from the day you filmed

A wedding short film tells the story of one couple's day in a few minutes, with the care of a film rather than the pace of a social clip. WeddingEditor makes that kind of piece from your raw footage as a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes. You upload every clip and audio file, describe the story and the feel in the optional preferences, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the film. The couple's real voices stay in, since recorded sound is kept.

Creating an account is free; you only pay when you are ready to start an edit.

What makes it a short film rather than a clip

A few choices separate a short film from a montage. Here is how WeddingEditor handles each.

A beginning, middle and end

The Highlight Reel runs about 5 minutes, enough room for an opening, a build through the ceremony and a close at the reception.

Voices that carry the story

Recorded sound is kept, so vows, a letter read aloud or a parent's toast can thread through the film.

Characters you name

You list the people the film is really about, beyond the couple, in your preferences.

A tone you set

Your answer on the feel of the film steers the pacing toward quiet and emotional or bright and celebratory.

A finish you own

Title the film in your editor if you want it to carry your studio's signature.

What is a wedding short film?

Searches for this phrase mix two worlds. Some people want short fiction films about weddings, and those results are full of film festival entries and old movies. Videographers use the phrase for something specific: a short, story-led cut of a real wedding, usually a few minutes long, closer in spirit to a documentary short than to a highlight montage. The difference is structure. A montage strings together beautiful shots; a short film has an arc, and it usually lets the couple's own words lead. That takes judgment and a lot of watching, which is the part WeddingEditor's AI editing takes on. You set the story direction in writing, and the AI editing cuts it from your footage with music balanced by your audio preference and one consistent look. It is a division of labor that suits most studios: the hours of watching and selecting move off your desk, while the creative signature that couples hire you for stays with you.

Not the same as a fictional short film about a wedding. WeddingEditor only edits real footage you shot.

How to get a short film edited

  1. 1

    Create a Highlight Reel project

The short film is delivered as the Highlight Reel, about 5 minutes long.

  2. 2

Upload all of the coverage, audio included

Add every camera and any separate audio recorder files. Speech and room sound are what give a short film its spine.

  3. 3

    Write the story brief

In the preferences, describe the feel, the people at the center of the story, the moments that must be in it and anything to avoid. Each free-text answer can run to 2,000 characters.

  4. 4

    Finish and deliver

Typically 24 to 72 hours after processing starts, download the MP4, add your score and grade, and deliver when you choose.

Wedding short film questions

Does WeddingEditor choose songs for the short film?

Yes. Music supports the moments in the edit, and the audio preference sets the balance: More speeches & voices, Balanced speech & music, or Mostly music-led. Real wedding audio such as vows, speeches and laughter can carry the story, with music in support.

Can you suggest short film ideas?

The ideas come from you and the couple. Put them in the preferences: the feel, the people at the center and the moments that tell their story.

Can the story be told through the vows?

Recorded audio is kept, so the vows are available to the edit. Name them as a must-include moment and say in the feel answer that you want them to lead the story, with picture following the words.

How long is the short film?

About 5 minutes, the length of the Highlight Reel. That is long enough for an opening, a build through the ceremony and a closing passage, and short enough that couples watch it again and share it with family.

Can I make it longer?

Not through WeddingEditor. The Highlight Reel is about 5 minutes. If your package promises a longer film, build that cut yourself from your footage and use the WeddingEditor film as the short version.

Is it a fictional or AI-generated film?

No. It is edited from the real footage you uploaded. WeddingEditor does not generate scenes, people or moments, so everything in the film happened on the day.

What if the story lands on the wrong moment?

Email notes from the link in the app and the same edit is revised. Up to two revision rounds are included with every full edit, and a failed render does not use one up.

Can I upload separate audio recorder files?

Yes. The upload accepts video and audio files, including .wav files from a separate recorder. Upload them into the same project as the camera footage, with no renaming or sorting needed.

Should I shoot differently for a short film?

Short films lean on sound and on a few strong scenes. Capture clean audio of vows, letters and speeches, hold steady shots of quiet moments, and film the people the couple cares about most. The edit can only use what was recorded.

Will the couple get it directly?

No. WeddingEditor never sends anything to your couple. You download the film, add your finishing touches and decide when and how to deliver it.
