Wedding recap video of the whole day, from your own coverage

A wedding recap video walks through the day in order, from getting ready to the send-off, in a few minutes. WeddingEditor makes that kind of film from the footage you shot. Choose a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes, upload every clip and audio file, and use the optional preferences to say which parts of the day and which people should carry the recap. WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the edit, and you download a 1080p MP4.

Creating an account is free; you only pay when you are ready to start an edit.

What goes into a recap

A recap is about coverage of the day. These are the pieces you control.

The parts of the day

In your preferences, mention which stretches matter most, such as preparations, the ceremony, portraits and the reception.

The people who must appear

Name family members, the wedding party or a grandparent who has to be in the film.

What to skip

List anything to leave out, from a guest who asked not to be filmed to a moment the couple would rather not relive.

The sound of the day

Recorded audio is kept, so speeches, laughter and room sound can run through the recap.

A single finished file

A 1080p MP4 you watch in the app and download again later if needed.

What is a wedding recap video?

Couples and videographers use recap for a short film that summarizes the whole wedding day rather than focusing on one moment. It tends to follow the timeline, giving each part of the day a short passage, and it sits between a quick social teaser and a long documentary edit. Because a recap covers everything, it depends on broad coverage: a videographer usually needs to review most of the day to pick passages for each stage. WeddingEditor takes that review off your plate. The AI editing works from your full upload and your notes on priorities, and returns the recap as a Highlight Reel of about 5 minutes, ready for your music.

Not the same as a recap song playlist or caption list, which are what many recap searches look for.

How to get a recap video edited

  1. 1

    Create a Highlight Reel project

The recap fits the Highlight Reel deliverable, which runs about 5 minutes and gives enough room for each stage of the day to get its own short passage.

  2. 2

    Upload the full day

Add clips from every camera and any separate audio recorders. Keep the browser tab open while files transfer.

  3. 3

Map the day in your preferences

Note the stages and people the recap has to cover and the feel you want across them.

  4. 4

    Collect and deliver

Start processing with One Wedding or a credit. Typically 24 to 72 hours later the recap is in your project to watch and download.

Wedding recap questions

Does WeddingEditor choose recap songs?

Yes. Music supports the moments in the edit, and the audio preference sets the balance: More speeches & voices, Balanced speech & music, or Mostly music-led. Real wedding audio such as vows, speeches and laughter can carry the story, with music in support.

Can you give me wedding recap video ideas?

Structure ideas belong in your preferences: name the stages to cover, the feel you want and the moments that must appear. The AI editing builds the recap from those answers.

Do I get captions for posting the recap?

No captions are written or burned in. Write the post caption yourself when you share it.

How long is the recap?

About 5 minutes, the length of the Highlight Reel.

Can I upload footage from a second shooter?

Yes. Footage from several cameras can go into one project, and signed-in teammates can add files through a team upload link.

What if I forgot a clip after paying?

Footage is locked once the project is paid for, so the edit is made from exactly what you uploaded. Check that every file is in before you check out.

Can I re-download the recap later?

Yes. Download the MP4 again from the same project. Each download link stays valid for 24 hours.

What makes a recap different from a teaser?

A recap tries to cover the whole day in order, so it needs passages from each stage. A teaser picks a few peaks and stops. With WeddingEditor, a recap is built as the Highlight Reel deliverable, while the Social Teaser is the shorter, peak-focused option.

My coverage of one stage is thin. Will the recap still work?

The recap can only draw on what you filmed. If the preparations were short or the exit was missed, say so in the preferences so the edit weights the stages you did cover, and use a revision round if the balance still feels off.

Do I need to make proxies or transcode first?

No. Upload the original files. There is no need to rename, sort by camera or make proxies, and drone and 4K clips are accepted.

More details

Can several weddings run at the same time? Yes. Every wedding is its own project, so you can upload and process several side by side.

Can the recap include the speeches in full? Not in full. A recap of about 5 minutes uses short passages, so a speech usually appears as a line or two. Name the lines that matter most in the preferences.

Is the recap sent to the couple? No. WeddingEditor never sends anything to your couple.
