# Wedding video audio: what happens to your sound in the edit

Wedding video audio is what turns pictures into a film: the vows, the officiant, the toasts, laughter, the room during the first dance. In a WeddingEditor edit, the audio is the sound you recorded. The edit balances the original sound from your footage with music, according to your audio preference. What you control is the balance: in the optional preferences you choose how much speech should carry the film compared with the rest of the recorded sound, and WeddingEditor's AI editing makes the edit to match.

## What your audio becomes

- **Speech as you recorded it**: Vows and toasts are heard as they were captured, which keeps them honest and also means the recording quality matters. A quiet room and a close microphone make the biggest difference.
- **A balance you chose**: A speech-led film lets voices carry the story; a sound-led one keeps the room, applause and atmosphere forward.
- **Music only as your audio preference sets**: Music in the edit is balanced with real audio by your audio preference. Choose More speeches & voices to keep voices forward, or Mostly music-led to let music carry more.
- **Sound you can rework**: Because the edit is a standard 1080p H.264 MP4, you can bring it into Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro to mix, add music or apply noise reduction.

## Audio in wedding videography

Wedding audio is usually captured from several sources at once: on-camera microphones for ambience, a lavalier on the officiant or partner for vows, a recorder plugged into the venue's sound desk for speeches, and sometimes a separate recorder near the band. Clean dialogue is what makes vows and toasts usable, so many videographers record redundant sources and pick the best one in the edit. That choice, and syncing separate recorders to picture, is normally part of the edit. Background music and licensed songs are added in post. In WeddingEditor, separate .wav files can be uploaded with the video, the edit uses the recorded sound, and music, cleanup and mixing remain finishing steps you do yourself. A practical consequence: if you usually rescue a weak vow recording with noise reduction, do that pass after download, or point the edit at moments where the camera audio is already clear.

Not the same as: Not the same as an audio cleanup service. WeddingEditor does not remove noise, trim dead air or normalize levels.

## Handing off a wedding with good sound

1. **Create the project** Choose Highlight Reel or Social Teaser for the wedding.
2. **Upload video and audio files** Upload the .mov and .mp4 clips and any .wav recordings from lavaliers or recorders, all in the browser.
3. **Set the speech and sound balance** In the preferences, say whether the film should be speech-led or let the atmosphere lead, and name the speeches or lines that must be heard. If a recording failed, say so, so the edit does not lean on it.
4. **Mix and finish if you want to** Processing typically takes 24 to 72 hours. Download the MP4 and adjust it further in your own editor if you want to.

## Audio facts

- **Original sound kept**: The edit keeps the original sound recorded in your footage.
- **Audio files accepted**: Upload video and audio files in the browser; the picker names .mov, .mp4 and .wav.
- **Speech balance is a preference**: Your answer on the audio approach shapes the edit.
- **Lines that must be in**: List must-include moments, such as a specific vow or toast.
- **Standard MP4 for finishing**: The 1080p H.264 MP4 imports into Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
- **AI-made**: Every full edit is made by WeddingEditor's AI editing, guided by your preference answers.

## Audio limits to plan around

- **No cleanup**: Noise, hum and uneven levels are not fixed. What you recorded is what plays, so check your best sources before you upload and leave out any track that is unusable.
- **Bad audio is worked around, not restored**: If a key moment has poor sound, the edit may lean on another recording, reactions or music; make sure the vows have at least one clean source.
- **Sound in the room stays**: If a toast was recorded near loud speakers, the edit keeps that room sound. The same goes for wind on an outdoor ceremony microphone.

## Audio work: yourself vs WeddingEditor

| Speech vs atmosphere balance | Your mix | Your preference answer |
| Music | You license and lay it | Not added; add after download |
| Noise reduction and levels | Your audio tools | Not done; apply after download |

## Wedding video audio questions

### Does WeddingEditor add music to my wedding video?

Yes. Music supports the moments in the edit, and the audio preference sets the balance: More speeches & voices, Balanced speech & music, or Mostly music-led. Real wedding audio such as vows, speeches and laughter can carry the story, with music in support.

### Can I upload separate audio from a recorder?

You can upload .wav files with the video. Say in your preferences which recording carries the vows and speeches, and make sure the key moments also have usable camera audio as a backup.

### Will WeddingEditor clean up noisy audio?

No. It does not clean audio, trim dead air or normalize levels. Apply noise reduction in your editor after download if you need it.

### What does the speech balance setting do?

It tells the AI editing how much the film should rely on spoken words versus the rest of the recorded sound. It describes sound already in your footage.

### Can I add a voice over?

Not inside WeddingEditor. Record it separately and add it in your own editor.

### What audio format do I get back?

The edit is a 1080p H.264 MP4 with the audio embedded.

### Is there a way to make sure a toast is heard?

Name the speaker or the toast as a must-include moment in the preferences and choose a speech-led balance.

### Can I change the audio mix in the app?

No. There is no in-app editing. Changes go through the included revision rounds (up to two) by email, or you remix after download.

### Do sound effects or a song come with the edit?

Music supports the moments in the edit, and the audio preference sets the balance: More speeches & voices, Balanced speech & music, or Mostly music-led. Real wedding audio such as vows, speeches and laughter can carry the story, with music in support. Sound effects are not added.

### How should I record audio so the edit has good speech?

Put a lavalier on the person most likely to speak quietly, usually the officiant or one partner, and keep a camera microphone running near the speakers at the reception. A recorder on the venue desk is a useful backup; upload it with the footage and name it in your preferences, and keep a clear camera track as well so every key moment has more than one source.
